Magitek Armor from Final Fantasy 6. This was completed a while ago, as it's also in my demo reel (animated using Fire Beam).
There are three renditions of the Magitek Armor in the game; all of these renditions look pretty different from each other, so I chose to model this entirely off of the battle sprite, [shown here] - the back had to be more or less improvised.
The texture is one 128^2 map, and one 64^2 map - diffuse only, full illumination. It is 728 tris.
If you want to see the animation, it's near the end of my demo reel on [link]
Those were the days; many will argue, but it just seems that few games capture the imagination as much as the best games of the 16-bit era. Maybe it's because so much was left to your imagination, in comparison to all of the graphics fanciness and voice acting of today's games.
I completely agree. The more games tend to emphasize realism, storytelling and "depth" these days with their highly-detailed, realistically-textured visuals and voice acting, the less imaginative they seem to become. Maybe it's because it feels like the developers are trying to dictate how we as players are meant to feel about the game, rather than letting us imagine it for ourselves.

It's about a year old, but still.
