:iconx-13-x:'s original character Luna, now in 3D! Was definitely fun to work on. Many thanks to =x-13-x for sharing Luna and other cute characters with us!

is there eyes appart of face? that big planes?

Yes, and so is the (tiny) mouth; this is a more 'expensive' way to do eyes since it requires transparency, but has some advantages: the main being that the texel size of the eyes can be much smaller than the texels on the face - the face is very broad gradients of color and doesn't need lots of detail. It also means that I can create a better 'cartoony' illusion by having the eyes as flat planes rather than conforming to the shape of the head and creating noticable bending distortions.

And the last point is not so much in practice (as this never left the modeling stage), but in theory, depending on how the engine would be programmed and materials would be handled, it could be easier to use simple UV shifting techniques on the eyes and mouth to animate them around an 'expression texture' of different eye/mouth types.

Very glad you like it! She's a great character; I had a feeling I'd be doing a fan art sooner or later when I saw her. (:

haha, i bet it was fun working with a different sort of style. I like how the colors are used to bring out all the details, especially in her hair.

Argh! Frigging adorable asymmetrical striped socks!
You did an awesome job with this, Tech! I can totally imagine making her frolic around in a field of flowers or something, haha. She feels very... solidly 3-D, I guess. IDK. /technical jargon

Thank you! I can only really take credit for the technical decisions and not too many 'creative decisions', since =x-13-x created the original character design, but I'm glad it works as a 3D model!
