For Digital Concept Art class.

Assignment was after an introduction to painting environments, so we were basically just required to paint any environment we wanted, which I'm no stranger to. (:

Fans of F-Zero for SNES will find the title familiar.

wow, this is rock'n, probably my overall fav in your gallery. One thing that I like in particular is the glow of the lava against the hard-edges and cuts from your brushwork. Primarily though I think the reason I like this most is because it reminds me of my days watching DBZ as a kid. Nice work

That's neat! I really looks white-hot and so bright it almost makes my eyes wince.

I love the machinery (I think) with the lava dripping off of it, that's a good effect and you pulled it off nicely.

And as I mentioned, I really like the reference. Fire Field is one of my favourite F-Zero planets.

Thanks; the idea with the claws dripping with lava was that they're checking the consistency and other attributes of the lava before it gets collected for whatever use it has. Granted, you could probably do the same thing with some small stationary sensor under the surface, but it looks much more sinister as gigantic claws.

I actually use that same kind of environmental feature when I come up with geothermal refinery areas in my head, it seems so much more atmospheric than what you mentioned with the sensors under the surface.

If you're not getting an A+ in that class, there were ridiculously high standards those teachers must throw at you.

The choice of contrast is pretty, and the hue as well.
